2016: Youth confirmation
If you are under the age of 18 and are known to go to church, then do we have a deal for you!
You can be a FULL MEMBER of your congregation with all the rights and privileges thereof, you know, voting, becoming the chair of the board, the opportunity to become a minister ... think of it.
But more importantly, you get to confirm your faith in Jesus Christ to your friends, family and congregation.
We are offering four Sundays of Church and classes:
We meet at the Heckston Church after worship (about 12:15 p.m.).
Bring your lunch. We will be talking about the bible and faith stuff.
We meet at the Hallville Church after the worship.
Hallville has a birthday lunch, so come, get your lunch and we'll go upstairs to talk about church history.
We meet at the Inkerman Church at about 12:15 p.m. Bring your lunch and we will talk about Christian action.
We will meet at Bayfield Manor in Kemptville for 2:15 p.m. to sing Christmas carols.
We will then gather at South Mountain United Church for hot chocolate and a short time to talk about our individual ideas about faith.
You must contact Rev. Blair to register.
United Church Future
Our youth and young adults (YAYAs) are important members of our congregation and we participate in the various YAYA activities hosted by the Ottawa Presbytery and the Montreal and Ottawa Conference of the United Church such as Worshiplude!

New model for Youth Forum at General Conference (GC)
Five youth delegates, aged 15 to 18, (age in 2015) will be elected by each Conference to attend GC 42 Youth Forum, a weekend event in January or February 2015 designed to help YAYAs become more aware of the current structure of the church, how policies and proposals are developed and submitted, and how decisions are made by the General Council.
YAYAs present at the Montreal and Ottawa (M&O) Conference Annual General Meeting May 29 to June 1, 2014 elect five M&O Conference Youth delegates (and 3 alternates) to go to the GC 42 Youth Forum winter retreat in 2015.
March 30, 2014: Share the Light
Youth and young adults in our pastoral charge led our "fifth Sunday of the month" service on March 30, 2014. The lenten theme was "share the light" and St. Andrew's Hallville definitely was definitely lit up with enthusiasm, music and faith (see photos in the slide show above). The YAYAs asked everyone to define what "sharing the light" means to them and here is what those present had to say:
"Serving on church committees
"Donating food to the House of Lazarus"
"Bringing food to luncheons"
"Giving everyone a friendly smile"
"Confidence and obedience"
"My shadows matter"
"Helping someone in need"
"New grass and flowers in spring"
"The blessings of each day"
"Jesus is always there when you are afraid or in trouble"
"Being friendly as well as sharing time and talents with others"
"Love and caring from friends and family"
"Helping and loving those in need"
"Great people with a kind word and a smile"
"Showing kindness to all we meet"
"Being as friendly as possible to strangers"
"Sharing light through music"
"The light helps us to show the way when we are lost"
"God's love and support is always with me and will show me the way; I store the light by helping others"
"I share the light in my life as often as I can"
"God's love; Do what Jesus said"
"Sharing with others"
"Hope, peace, assist others and spread God's word"
"Being the change I want to see in the world"
"Show Jesus lives within your heart"
"Singing in the choir"
"Leading by example"
"Helping your neighbours"
"Spread God's word, pray for others, love on another"
"Salvation and life"
"Burning it brightly every day"
"The Son of God gives light"
"Being nice to all people"
"Finding patience and smiles for my children at the end of the day"
February 2014: Internet Café
We hosted an Internet Café in February 2014 at the South Mountain Library to introduce our website and other secrets of surfing the web. Our youth, as well as members of our website committee, were on hand to answers questions and demonstrate various features of the website.
Here is the handout from that session.
