Call to worship: Psalm 16
Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I have said to God, 'You are my God;
from you alone comes all my prosperity.'
All my delight is in the faithful who dwell in the land,
and in those who excel in virtue.
But as for those who run after other gods,
their troubles shall be multiplied.
Libations of blood I will not offer to those gods,
nor will I take their names upon my lips.
You, God, are my allotted portion and my cup;
you yourself have cast my lot.
My boundaries enclose a pleasant land;
indeed I have a noble heritage.
I will thank you, God, for giving me counsel;
at night also you teach my heart.
I keep you always before me;
you are on my right hand, therefore I shall not fall.
So my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
for my body shall also rest in safety.
For you will not surrender me to the Grave,
nor suffer your beloved to see the Abyss.
You will show me the path of life.
In your presence is fullness of joy;
and from your right hand flow delights
Family of God, from whom does our help come?
Our Help comes from the Lord,
the maker of heaven and earth Ps 124:8
Hymn: Walk with me, I will walk with you
Walk with me, I will walk with you
and build the land that God has planned
where love shines through.
When Moses heard the call of God
he said, 'Lord, don't send me.'
But God told Moses, 'You're the one
to set my people free.' R
Now Peter was a most unlikely
man to lead the flock;
but Jesus knew his holiness
and he became the Rock. R
Young Mary Magdalene was sure
her life could be much more,
and by her faith she dared to let
God's love unlock the door. R
And when you share your faith with me
and work for life made new,
the witness of your faithfulness
calls me to walk with you. R
Prayer and Confession
God of all creation…(Minister continues with Prayer)
God of all creation,
you have opened the world around us
and filled it with wonder,
but we confess our eyes are not always open
to its harsher realities.
Our ears are sometimes deaf to cries of need.
Our minds are often shut
to opinions which differ from our own.
Forgive us when we seek greatness
instead of goodness.
Forgive us when we miss the wisdom
you intend us to embrace. Amen.
The Lord's prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Children's hymn: Lord prepare me

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary,
pure and holy tried and true; with thanksgiving,
I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.
Scriptures: Selected verses from Exodus 2,3,4
After a long time the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned under their slavery and cried out. Out of the slavery, their cry for help rose up to God. God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God looked upon the Israelites, and God took notice of them.
So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt." But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" He said, "I will be with you; and this shall be the sign for you that it is I who sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God on this mountain." But Moses said to God, "If I come to the Israelites and say to them, "The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,' and they ask me, "What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I am who I am." He said further, "Thus you shall say to the Israelites, "I am has sent me to you.' " God also said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the Israelites, "The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you': This is my name forever, and this my title for all generations.
But Moses said to the Lord, "O my Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor even now that you have spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue." Then the Lord said to him, "Who gives speech to mortals? Who makes them mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to speak." But he said, "O my Lord, please send someone else." Then the angel of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, "What of your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he can speak fluently; even now he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you his heart will be glad. You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do. He indeed shall speak for you to the people; he shall serve as a mouth for you, and you shall serve as God for him.
May God bless to our understanding this reading of Holy Scripture
Gospel hymn: God on the mountain
Life is easy when you’re up on the mountain
And you’ve got peace of mind like you’ve never known
But then things change and you’re down in the valley
Don’t lose faith for you’re never alone
For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times
The God of the day is still God in the night
You talk of faith when you’re up on the mountain
But the talk comes easy when life’s at it’s best
But it is down in the valley of trials and temptation
That’s when faith is really put to the test
Benediction and the Grace
The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
The Love of God, and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with us all evermore. 2 Corinthians 13:14
Hymn: How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
in a believer's ear!
It soothes the sorrows, heals the wounds,
and drives away all fear.
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
and calms the troubled breast;
'tis manna to the hungry soul,
and to the weary, rest.
Dear Name! the rock on which I build,
my shield and hiding-place,
my never-failing treasury, filled
with boundless stores of grace.
Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend,
my Prophet, Priest, and King,
my Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
accept the praise I bring.
The effort of my heart is weak,
and cold my warmest thought;
but when I see you whom I seek,
I'll praise you as I ought.
